In 1933, serious political and social unrest led to the seizure of power by Russian adventurer Boris Skossyreff, who declared himself King Boris I and proceeded to declare war on the Bishop of Urgell.
Skossyreff was arrested, and the French military occupied Andorra; the French forces dismissed the local government and gave control to the Viguiers, delegates of the princes.
Given its relative isolation, Andorra has existed outside the mainstream of European history, with few ties to countries other than France and Spain.

In 1893 - despite opposition by the Bishop of Urgel - Andorra got its first telegraph line to the outside world (to Ax-Les-Thermes, on the French side of the border).

In 1933, some Andorrans decided they were tired of this set-up, despite how independent it had kept them, and wanted to play a different game.
Apparently this new game involved installing a Russian named king named Boris Skossyreff as king–it was his idea.
The Bishop of Urgell sent in guards (five of them) who arrested them, the courts dismissed the Council of the Land who had appointed him, and the French sent in gendarmes to keep things quiet.

The electoral system, was reformed in July 17th, and from now on every man older than 30 years would be eligible, voting only men 25 years and older.
As a curious happening we must say that during 1934, a Russian citizen called "Boris Skossyreff" Count of Orange, propose the "General Council" to be nominated King of Andorra, stating that he would accomplish the transformation and modernization of the country.
The bishop of "Seu d'Urgell" disapproved it, and as an answer he declare the war, proclaiming himself "Sovereign Prince", and convoking general elections.

It's never had a currency of it's own, and apparently the only way to enter Andorra is through France or Spain directly.
In 1933, serious political and social unrest led to a Russian adventurer, Boris Skossyreff seizing control and declaring himself King Boris I. He proceeded to declare war on the Bishop of Urgel.
Boris I was arrested, and the French military occupied Andorra and dismissed the local government placing the Viguiers, who are delegates of the princes, in control.

And you know, sometimes it works!:-)) I wonder, is there anybody with a period in Andorran history called "Andorran revolution" and than the "reign" of Boris Skossyreff ?
It interests me a lot, because I have found very, VERY controversial data about it.
The sources in internet and books describes it (esp. "King Boris" reign in a very different ways) Strange, as if it is a very ancient history and there are no any trustworthy sources about it, just rumour :-) E.g.
