In spite of the Roman remains on Borough Hill, nothing is known of the town itself until the time of the Domesday Survey, when the manor consisting of eight hides belonged to the countess Judith, the Conquerors niece.
According to tradition, Daventry was created a borough by King John, but there is no extant charter before that of Elizabeth in 1576, by which the town was incorporated under the name of the bailiff, burgesses and commonalty of the borough of Daventry.

CAMDEN --Thanks to a $25,000 historic preservation grant from the Camden County Board of Freeholders, the oldest remaining structure in Pine Hill is on its way to becoming a museum.
The grant, which was one of four different historic preservation grants approved at the Freeholder meeting in Camden on November 20, is being used to replace the damaged roof on the nearly 170-year-old federal style farmhouse, known as the Tomlinson House, at 834 Blackwood-Clementon Road.
The borough plans to restore the house for use as a public museum dedicated to Pine Hill history.
