The manor of Boroughbridge, then called Burc, was held by Edward the Confessor and passed to William the Conqueror, but suffered so much from the ravages of his soldiers that by 1086 it had decreased in value fro to 55s.
In 1229 Boroughbridge, as part of the manor of Aldborough, was granted to Hubert de Burgh, but was forfeited a few years later by his son who fought against the king at Evesham.
Boroughbridge was evidently a borough by prescription, and as such was called upon to return two members to parliament in 1299.

At Boroughbridge there were numerous inns with large stabling accommodation, and horses and carriages were always in readiness to convey travellers north or south, east or west, at a moment's notice.
It was the custom for travellers of distinction and for families passing from one part of the country to another to break their journeys here in order to avail themselves of the rest which the "Crown" afforded.
Their disappearance from Boroughbridge was followed by that of the river-craft, for the railways robbed the river of trade even as they were robbing the roads of traffic.

The last trace of him I have is no 13 Queen Anne Street, London in the 1960's, he was a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, and this address is adjacent to Harley Street.I do not know if he died in London or not, or if he had children.
He had a sister I believe, Edith?/ Ethel?, who I think lived in Boroughbridge area up until her death in the 1980/1990's, but again do not know of any children.
I lived in the family's big old house in Boroughbridge during the mid 1990's, and discovered several precious items belonging to the Daggett's in an old loft at the house, which I would be very pleased to be able to pass on to the present family is I could trace them
