Boswash tells the story of a young cartographer (named Boswash) who is with the United States Army as the border between Mexico and the United States is being finalized at the end of their war.
Boswash quickly finds himself at odds with his commander over where the border between the countries really exists—but that's quickly the least of his problems.
Boswash is a two-color book, but rather than using fl as one of the colors (which you normally see), Bertozzi's selected blue and orange.

Posted by: Cruiser at December 4, 2004 8:52 PM It must be nice to be in the one part of the country where Amtrak is worth taking.
I think that they should shut it down outside of New Boswash and privatize what's there: then we'd see how competitive it really is with the airlines.
Without the massive subsidies, Amtrak would not survive on a national scale, but I think it could make it if it was just running in the one area of the country where it works.

The East Coast may often more commonly be associated with the Northeastern United States, in part because the Southeast coast is more associated culturally with the larger American South.
It may especially refer to the highly urbanized strip along the coast from Boston, Massachusetts to Washington, D.C., the so-called "BosWash megalopolis".
In the rap music community the term has been embraced in a sense of regional loyalty to New York City.

 Boston-Atlanta Metropolitan Axis - UrbanPlanet.org
I wouldn't say that people here advocate sprawl itself --this is the Urban Planet after all-- but the idea set forth in the books (apparently there are several placed in this setting) is of one continuous city.
I know BosWash isn't exactly a continuous city without its fair share of badly planned strips malls and sprawly big boxes, but it represents one of the most densely populated spans in our country.
I think the idea of one massive city is appealing on the "mine is bigger than yours" mentality that all humans have deep down.
