Boscombe is by the sea, Honeycombe Chine, and it has its own pier, which was built in 1888, with a unique aircraft-wings design added in the 1950s at the entrance which is a listed building.
Boscombe has a very long sandy beach and from Boscombe Cliff Gardens you can get a wonderful view of the bay that stretches around from Hengistbury Head to Bournemouth and to Alum Chine and the entrance to Poole Harbour.
On the 30th October 2005, the historic Boscombe Pier was closed as it was deemed unsafe and the local government has promised to reopen a refurbished pier in 2006 or 2007.

Boscombe Down is an airfield located south of Amesbury, Wiltshire.
The airfield is home to a vast and varied number of types, with examples of almost all fixed wing and rotary aircraft presently in service with the Royal Air Force.
Boscombe Down also has the longest runway in the UK, at 3,212 metres, with rotary hydraulic arrestor gear and barriers at each end.

That's about it for Boscombe Down; one of the twitchier places in the UK but it can be very rewarding if you play by the rules and don't antagonise the authorities.
Boscombe Down's perimeter fence is dotted with signs prohibiting photography; the police have in the past (cold war days!) been strict in enforcing this and CCTV cameras around the perimeter keep an eagle eye on anybody hanging around so if you point a camera into the base you could expect company pretty quick!
