The county's Green Tea Festival held last weekend was a carnival of culinary experiments that mixed in tea, such as green tea wine that would be paired well with a roasted chicken stuffed with leaves.
While the county chose a queen for its Miss Green Tea beauty pageant, locals competed in tea-roasting contests, in which travelers were invited to participate as well if they wanted to get their hands dirty.
The sights in Boseong County can be reached within 30 minutes from the Gwangju train station, or an hour's drive of the harbor city of Mokpo.

It's location is almost perfect for me (was considering the southwest coast between Yeosu and Wando and so I've considered it before.
I've been down thereabouts on trips to Boseong, to west coast islands, to islands around Wando (Bogildo, Shinjido, etc) and I think it a good place to base one's outdoor weekend travels if one is so inclined like I am.
I should have mentioned "yes" to Gurye county as it's not far from where I am (borders the provinces) and ideal for those who like hiking (gateway to Jiri National Park).
