The Tornjak is one of the very old breeds from ancient times, and it was mentioned in handwritten papers for the first time in the 9th century, in a Catholic Church's document.
Tornjaks from these documents is the very same as they are today, except for the name of the breed, which was Hrvatski pas planinac, meaning Croatian dog from the mountain, or as we call the Tornjak today: Croatian Mountain Dog.
The Tornjak is a very healthy breed, but we must pay attention to the fact that they were very poorly fed in their past, and now they do not need so much proteins in the food.

The Bosnian Tornjak, one of Bosnia's two major dog breeds and national symbol, originates in the area, found around Mt.Vlašić.

Apparently there are multiple Tornjaks, including the Bosnian Tornjak maybe AKA Bosnian Sheepdog.
Apparently the Croatian Shepherd and the Croatian Mountain Dog Tornjak are different breeds.
I would guess the same might be true of the Bosnian Tornjak and Bosnian Sheepdog.
