Atlanta Botanical Garden on Friday responded to a recent lawsuit by The Friends of Piedmont Park, which is trying to stop the construction of a parking deck at the Atlanta park.
Atlanta Botanical Garden and Piedmont Park Conservancy are private entities that manage the park under contracts with the city.
However, in its response today, Atlanta Botanical Garden called the lawsuit "frivolous" and said the plaintiffs are attempting to block "an innovative plan that increases green space and access." The new parking deck and visitor center will actually increase green space and access to Atlanta Botanical Garden and Piedmont Park, Atlanta Botanical Garden said.
