  CHILDREN'S PYTHON AND LOOKALIKES.
In 1985 Laurie Smith of the West Australian Museum published a paper (Smith 1985), dividing what was formerly regarded as a single species, the Children's Python Bothrochilus childreni into three geographically exclusive species.
Although there is debate as to the validity of this division (see later), I will for the time being treat these snakes as three similar but separate species.
(Ant-hill Pythons Bothrochilus perthensis found in the Pilbara and nearby parts of Western Australia, are substantially different to the above snakes and are not the main subject of this paper.

About Us - Harford Reptile Breeding Center
We have successfully bred the green tree python almost every year from 1983 to 1995, and have bred blue chondros through three generations.
We were one of the first private facilities in the US to succesfully breed the ringed python (Bothrochilus boa), and the woma (Aspidites ramsayi), were the third private facility in the US to produce the Angolan Python (Python anchietae), which we now produce successfully every year.
We have now turned our attention to the many mutations and color phases of the ball python, and Angolans exclusively.

The genus encompasses the smaller Australasian pythons, formerly lumped in the genus Liasis, and occasionally referred to as Bothrochilus.
(Bothrochilus is now usually only applied to the species ‘boa’).
The name Bothrochilus is herein applied to the taxon boa only.

Assessing Current Australian Python Taxonomy Using Mitochondrial Cytochrome b
There were 35 individual records, which were placed into groups comprised of 6 genus (Aspidites, Apodora, Morelia, Leiopython, Liasis, Python).
Two currently recognized genus, Antaresia and Bothrochilus, were not represented in the Gene Bank.
The MegAlign software aligned the sequences and then PAUP was used to calculate the best tree.

 Campbell Nekked Snakes
I invited them both into the Zoo's library where I could better examine this bizarre, weird looking critter.
Strange and impossible as it might seem to intelligent beings, my first thought was that his fellow had caught someone's escaped Bismarck or ringed python (Bothrochilus boa).
As I said, it was one weird, mamma-jamma snake.

The Ant-hill Python is also known under the names of Pygmy Python or Western Children's Python, although I think Ant-hill Python makes a better and more distinctive common name.
Although its species name is pretty fixed as perthensis, it has been recently placed in the genera Liasis, Bothrochilus and most recently Antaresia.
