 Three gunmen killed in Algeria
The Algerian daily al-Youm reported on Sunday that Algerian security forces killed three Armed Islamic Group (GIA) members in Souk al-Khamis in Bouira province, in vast mopping up operations, during which heavy machine guns were used.
The paper added that security forces, backed by helicopters, are also still cordoning the mountainous areas and the forests near Skikda province, where main centers for the GIA are located.

Hattab's group has its main bases in Bouira and neighbouring Tizi-Ouzou province, where it has carried out deadly ambushes of government troops and pro-government militiamen over the past two years.
Hassan Hattab, chief of the Da'wa wal Djihad faction, was killed last week by his comrades-in-arms after a quarrel with three other leaders in his movement, the daily Saout al Ahrar said, quoting "reliable sources".
The report could not immediately be confirmed by independent sources and government officials were not available for comment.

The Algerian daily al-Khabar said on Sunday that two citizens were killed on Friday at a fake barrier by armed men in Towerbret district in Bouira province, while Algerian security forces killed two armed men in Wajanah town in al-Alali.
Meanwhile, Al-Aseel daily said that army forces have been carrying out vast mopping-up operations for two days in al-Qadereyah heights in Bouira and Mazranah district near Jibal Seidi Ali Bunas using heavy machine guns and helicopters in destroying caves of the armed groups.
