  Eric Clapton Album Reviews
The album’s centerpiece, “Layla” was an impassioned love plea to “friend” George Harrison’s wife (hence the proposed anonymity of the Derek & The Dominos moniker, which fooled nobody) that is one of the most dramatic songs in all of rock.
After a disappointing duet album with B.B. King (2000's Riding With The King) and a forgettable follow up to Pilgrim (2001's Reptile, which is most notable for the appearance of The Impressions on backing vocals), Eric Clapton retrenched and returned to his first and dearest love, the blues.
Though the album's loose, upbeat atmosphere is something of a surprise (a surprise I suspect old Robert wouldn't approve of), the album's polished sound and tame performances are par for the course if one considers his other recent efforts.

 Boulevard Records
In fact, the only thing we're sure of at this moment in time is that the label was releasing albums between 1971 and 1973 and, by jumping to conclusions by looking at the catalogue numbers, we reckon on their being somewhere between 100 and 200 Boulevard releases.
Most of the albums are full of cover-versions, but the occasional bit of in-licensing was allowed; one such album worth tracking down is the re-release of the "Hair" album by Alan Hawkshaw masquerading as The Graham Walker Sound, originally released on Saga Records.
The album contained withing this sleeve is a HARD ROCK album, performed by the band Equinox, who are new to the recording field, this being their first album.

Eric Clapton - 461 Ocean Boulevard | sputnikmusic   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-15)
461 Ocean Boulevard is also a very emotional album, with tracks like the almost prayer-like "Give Me Strength" and the fabululous "Let it Grow," that could engulf you in just the emotion alone, despite Clapton's rather weak voice.
The grooves could quite possibly make you dance to the music, and his voice seems more in place when not trying to be heard over the rest of the band, it seems.
The only weak point would have to be his voice, but it doesn't hurt the music as much as you may think.

RollingStone.com: 461 Ocean Boulevard : Eric Clapton : Review   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-15)
Eric Clapton's new album teeters precariously on the very edge, flirting with, but in the nick of time always just skirting, dullness.
Out of keeping with the rest of the album, and for this very reason outstanding, is "Let It Grow," a song whose grandeur and sweep date back to 1969, when Clapton and Harrison began collaborating.
Clapton's attempt to demystify himself is understandable but excessive, resulting in an album which is easier to appreciate than it is to enjoy.

 Album - 461 Ocean Boulevard
It is very clear from the onset that this is a Clapton solo album and therefore not intended to be the successor to "Layla".
In this album, finally, EC can express what's inside of him and let it come out, starting right off with Motherless Children, instead of being pressurised as the "guitar-god man" who has to produce 5 minute solos, and he can at last be himself.
This album included one of his most enduring hits ("I Shot the Sheriff", a blues/reggae fusion before reggae had really become popular in America), and started him on back on the road to success.

Sweet : Desolation Boulevard - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Sweet hit the peak of their powers on Desolation Boulevard, a wonderfully lightweight collection of fizzy melodies and big, dumb hooks.
Essentially, the album consists of three dynamic singles buoyed by a bunch of filler, but those singles -- "Ballroom Blitz," "The 6-Teens," and "Fox on the Run" -- are addictive slices of bubblegum glam rock.
Although the filler is relatively strong, there are a number of weak patches on Desolation Boulevard, but it remains an intoxicatingly fun record and one that sounds surprisingly fresh, even with all of its kitschy '70s production techniques.

Boulevard Of Broken Dreams by Green Day Songfacts
The original "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" was a #6 hit for Jan Garber and His Orchestra in 1934, with vocals by Lee Bennett (no apparent relation to Tony Bennett, who later recorded it in 1957).
On the album, at the end of holiday, there is a long guitar line for like 5 sec.
Green Day is managing to break that trend with a highly complex narrative on American Idiot (a teriffic album by the way), so keep in mind that their videos have absolutely squat to do with the message and concept their music is communicating.

461 Ocean Boulevard by Eric Clapton CD
Of course, his cover of Bob Marley's "I Shot The Sheriff" was the musical statement that took him to the top of the charts and let the general public know he was back.
This CD was a disappointment 30 years ago as an album, and time has only proven it to be among the poorest work Clapton has recorded.
Being a Clapton fan I gave this album another chance to prove me wrong, but after many listens I took it to a used CD shop to recoup some of my money.

The 1974 album on which Clapton's solo career truly caught fire, 461 Ocean Boulevard is best remembered for its hit version of Bob Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff"--perhaps the first time many in America ever heard the rhythms of reggae music.
But it's also an album on which emotions run high, especially on two Clapton originals, the prayerful "Give Me Strength" and the pleading "Let It Grow." Clapton maintains his grounding in the blues with versions of Robert Johnson's "Steady Rollin' Man" and...
This was a top album at the time of its release in 1974, aided by a couple of hit singles -- and, apparently, Clapton's guitar-hero halo, which prevented us from taking a good listen.

It was a response to the poppy simplicity of Dookie with the album darker than their previous one.
The resulting 2004 album, American Idiot, is being billed as a "punk rock opera", or more accurately a concept album telling the story of characters such as St. Jimmy, Jesus of Suburbia (probably each the same person,) and Whatsername.
Although the record is important for the band, they haven't hinted that they will stop with it and also said that they don't feel at all at the peak of their careers.

‘Boulevard Of Broken Dreams’ is a pivotal moment in the intricately detailed ‘American Idiot’ concept, vividly portraying an anguished sense of alienation with one of Green Day’s most powerful and tender moments to date.
‘Boulevard Of Broken Dreams’ follows the release of the ‘American Idiot’ single, which entered the charts at #3 and proved to be Green Day’s biggest UK hit to date.

The more I hear the band members of TFK play on their own and together, the more I realize how each one of them is a star in their own right.
Sonic Boulevard is in essence an instrumental album, vocals are merely used as "instruments" in some of the cuts.
The album is not as keyboard-oriented as may be expected, both guitars and soprano saxophones are allowed generous space to lead in the musical landscapes painted by bodins compositions.

Their follow-up single, "Blockbuster" (which had been # 1 on the British charts in 1973), peaked at # 73 in the U. in 1973, and their debut American album, "The Sweet," peaked at # 191 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums charts.
The band also charted with six Top 200 ranked albums between 1973 and 1979 ("Cut Above The Rest" in 1979, was as a trio without Connolly and eeked its way to # 151).
I consider "Desolation Boulevard" to be a classic album of the 1970's --- something of a bridge between the power pop movement (The Raspberries, Badfinger, Big Star, Stories) and the the glam-rock/progressive rock years (T. Rex, David Bowie, Slade, Queen).
