Topic: Bounce (movie)

In the News (Wed 30 May 12)

  JoBlo reviews the movie "Bounce"
This small movie does not attempt to ask or answer the big big questions, but succeeds in showing some people taking steps to overcome their guilt and grief.
BOUNCE is a good story with some decent supporting characters all the way around, it was just Ben that rubbed me the wrong way, and typically I like him.
Bounce is a good TV movie, but on the big screen it was bad.

 Bounce: Cinephiles Movie Review
Bounce, written and directed by Don Roos (The Opposite of Sex), exploits the mass appeal of its young protagonistic couple, bringing both players together to simulate a romance on screen.
While Buddy painfully considers he is to blame for the unfortunate death of Abby's husband, Abby slowly develops a new dependence on Buddy and eventually realizes she may find in him a greater love than the one she outlived.
Although Bounce successfully establishes a high level of guilt, tension and resentment between the two characters, their atonement comes predictably to the viewer.

this movie is awesome and ben affleck is totally perfect and hot, but maybe they shoul've thought 2ce about that gwenyth paltrow chick, she's ugly and isn't all that great at acting, but other than that i just loved the movie, i would've given it 3 stars, but i absolutely hate gwenyth paltrow.
i watched this movie 5 times in 3 days and any time i have a few spare minutes.

Bounce Movie Review by Anthony Leong from MediaCircus.net
It is common knowledge that stars Ben Affleck and Gwyneth Paltrow, who last shared the screen in "Shakespeare in Love", were an item during production, and it shows in the uncommon chemistry that their on-screen personas share.
In the case of "Bounce", Roos is more conventional in execution, though he makes a point of conveying the ideas and themes of the story with as much care as possible.
Overall, "Bounce" is an entertaining and surprisingly subtle and moving romance.

Two people are brought together by a tragedy and a certain kind of ironic sorrow follows the couple as they hold hands, kiss-kiss, do the nasty, and all that jazz.
It's a perfect date movie for those of you who want to get in the mood but who don't want to drown in all the sap and cheese.
In movies with this story structure, all depends on the precise timing of the delay and the revelation, and 'Bounce' misses.

Fortunately, George Armitage's adaptation of Leonard's The Big Bounce is a light-hearted, engaging caper comedy that erases the painful memory of the 1969 film version starring Ryan O'Neal.
The movie would also be a lot tighter if Armitage had spent the time fine-tuning Sebastian Gutierrez' script, which gets a little muddled towards the end as everyone double-crosses each other.
The Big Bounce is only the third film Armitage has directed since 1990's Miami Blues, a tough little B-movie gem starring Alec Baldwin and Fred Ward.

 The Big Bounce Movie Review
It's breezy and, in all fairness, has some entertaining moments, but the plot is all over the map, poorly paced and the surprises in the movie don't add up to a lot of intrigue.
The Big Bounce is also populated by several well known high profile actors including Gary Sinise, Bebe Neuwirth, and Charlie Sheen.
As it stands, The Big Bounce isn't a piece of garbage but it's lacking in a lot of areas, and as likable as Owen Wilson is, he is unable to elevate the material.

Bounce has all the deft charm and breezy good looks you'd expect from a romance starring Ben Affleck and Gwyneth Paltrow, but under the surface beats the poisoned heart of an independent film just going through the motions.
While there is, undeniably, chemistry between the two stars, which explains their off screen romance, their sizzle is not enough to keep this movie on even keel, and the movie begins to flatline.
BOUNCE has a straightforward screenplay that, with a different cast and director, might pass as a typical romantic comedy.

Directed with an easygoing approach that fits perfectly with the laid back Hawaiian locales, THE BIG BOUNCE gets an enormous boost from Owen Wilson, who appears to be having the time of his life.
