Bourbon County, Kentucky actually began as Bourbon County, Virginia in 1785, when it was created from Fayette County, Kentucky (previously also in Virginia).
Bourbon whiskey, named for the county, was first distilled within its borders by the Rev. Elijah Craig in the early 19th century.
In the county the population was spread out with 25.00% under the age of 18, 8.10% from 18 to 24, 28.60% from 25 to 44, 24.70% from 45 to 64, and 13.60% who were 65 years of age or older.

When we visited Bourbon County, Kentucky in 1980, we found numerous land records involving various portions of the 2000 acres which were located on the South Fork of the Licking.
Kentucky became a state in 1792, and on the 24th of June that year the first General Assembly passed the first of the many laws regarding an organization of a defense system for the state.
Perhaps she is living with a child either in Indiana or back in Kentucky, but we have not found her with the children we have been able to trace.

The town derived its name from the township and the name of Bourbon for the township was selected by the organizers of the town who came from Bourbon County, Kentucky.
In September 1865, the town of Bourbon was incorporated with the first officers elected being Trustees Elias Galentine, James Porter and Omar Davis; Caleb Davis, Marshall; George Sears, Clerk-Treasurer and Lewis Gross, Assessor.
The building was finally destroyed by fire in 1880 and the ground sold to the town of Bourbon on which a school was erected.

The oldest document on record in York County is a deed given by one Van Arsdale in 1768 for land described therein as adjoining land of Henry Banta, which fixes the date of emigration to Pennsylvania as early as 1768.
At the time of removal to Kentucky, Henry4 Banta was the father of twenty-one children, of whom three had died in infancy, and his oldest son had recently died leaving nine children, who were brought up by their grandfather.
As I viewed almost every settlement in the Kentucky country, and tarried some time at different places, I had a very good opportunity to learn the state of religion and what progress the gospel had made there, an account of which I doubt not but will be acceptable to you.

Jacob served as a Captain in the Kentucky militia during the War of 1812, according to the Illinois veteran file.

The marriage of John M. Byrd and Susanna Bevins is recorded in the Bourbon County Court House records, in Paris Kentucky.* They were married on the 4th of April 1816, and Susannah’s father, John Bevins, signed his consent for the marriage.
In that same year Todd County was formed from part of Christian County, and the 1820 census lists a John M. Byrd with a wife and two young children in Todd County.

This family was in Bourbon Co. in 1790 and in 1830 Heritage and Benoni CHANEY left Bourbon Co. and moved to Boone Co. MO.
George and Drucilla were married about 1814 and spent the first part of their married life in Bourbon County, Ky., then moved to Nicholas County, Ky. George was born about 1795 in Fauquier county, Va. It is unknown where and when Drucilla was born.
