  Burley Bowler
Bowler was born in 1890 in Dundalk, Ontario, where he worked in a drug store and learned the jeweler’s trade.
Bowler bought the Daniels County Leader in 1924 and during the late 1920s and the 1930s engaged in outspoken editorial crusades against Communists, a statewide liquor racket and New Deal policies.
Bowler and his wife had a daughter, Gwendolyn, and two sons: Larry, who became editor and publisher of the Leader, and Duane, longtime editorial-page editor of the Billings Gazette.

BARLEY BOWLER SENTENCED IN U.S.   Bill Mercer, United States Attorney for the District of Montana, announced today that during a federal court session in Missoula, on December 16, 2005, before Chief U.S. District Judge Donald W. Molloy, BARLEY BOWLER, a 29-year-old resident of Missoula, appeared for sentencing.
  BOWLER was sentenced in connection with his guilty plea to possession with intent to distribute more than 100 kilograms of marijuana and maintaining a drug-involved premises or aiding and abetting.
In the federal system, BOWLER does have the opportunity to earn a sentence reduction for "good behavior." However, this reduction will not exceed 15% of the overall sentence.

While the earlier series followed life with the six-member Bowler family in a suburban London townhouse, Frontier House covers three wilderness homesteads and three families: the Glenns of Tennessee (four members), the Clunes of California (six) and the Brooks of Massachusetts (two).
But the Montana homesteaders had to build their own houses, grow or kill much of their food, fend off bears and rattlesnakes and mosquitoes (one pioneer counted 91 bites on her body), and survive an unexpected (in June!) nine-inch snowstorm.
It had to be isolated — away from the lights of town and airplane sounds — but accessible by car and hospitable to agriculture.

William H. Steele, age 76 and one of the pioneers of this part of Montana, died in Red Lodge, Wednesday.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C.E. Fenton, Friday afternoon at the M.E. Church and interment was made in the Bowler cemetery, where other members of the family are buried.
He worked as a carpenter there for three years, then was promoted to boss farmer and after 11 years service was sent to Pryor Agency as a farmer- in- charge for three years.

John H. Bowler was really loved by the young people of Veyo Ward and by his grandchildren and great children, and all of his family.
She was planning on bottling fruit the next day, which was Monday and she didn’t want to have to stop and wash. When Grandma got outside to put her washing on the line, she looked up through the field and saw my mother’s wash there before hers was hung out.
John Bowler and Henry Holt spent days reminiscing and re-living lot of their younger days during those winter visits, while Grandma Bowler sat and knitted, listened and nodded her head.
