The pigs invite the neighboring farmer to dinner to inspect the efficiency of Animal Farm, and the men congratulate the pigs on their achievements, noting that the animals at Animal Farm did more work and required less food than any farm in the county.

Animal farm skips the short rule of Lenin, and has Napoleon leading the farm from the beginning of the revolution.
The animals assume that the pigs will distribute it equally among the masses, and are shocked when they discover that the pigs have decided to keep it for themselves.

 Animal Farm
The original idea the animals had about the animal farm was a good one but, as Fangda and a few other people have said, once you are in power it is hard to not take advantage (not necessarily to that extent but take advantage none the less).
In Animal Farm, other than the obvious things, there is the days when they shoot the rifle, in remembrance of the Battle of the Windmill, the formation of the rebellion, and Napoleon added his birthday into it.
Essentially, Animal Farm may be part of a vicious circle which simply repeats itself again and again and again- animals are unhappy with the state of society, overthrow the government through much hardship and again some clever animal will take advantage of the others and live like royalty.

 Animal Farm character assessment - Boxer.
For the first time, Boxer argues with Squealer for the honour of Snowball, "Snowball fought bravely at the Battle of the Cowshed." They kept on arguing, but as Squealer knows Boxer so well he mentions that Napoleon said it and that was how the conversation ended.
"Boxer saw them coming and put his great hoof, caught a dog in mid-air and pinned him to the ground", if he was the same as from the 'Battle of the Cowshed', he would have let the dog go immediately when realising his action, but now he has changed to be more harsh.
The last mention of Boxer in this chapter again shows us that he is not of "first rate intelligence", and that the only thing he understands is working.
