With this move Boxhill accepts the challenge of the incumbent Horace Burrell who declared last month that anyone who was interested should throw their hat in the ring.
Boxhill would not reveal his hand of his plans for the country's football choosing only to say that his team is working on the manifesto.
Boxhill, who is also chairman of the South-Central Confederation which includes the parishes of St Catherine, Clarendon, Manchester and St Elizabeth, has a unique distinction in the country's football.

According to Boxhill, his visions and focus will be towards administrative reforms, a more responsible secretariat, development of the youth programmes and bringing coaching skills to a level that is so very obviously absent at the moment.
While those backing the Burrell camp have told me that Boxhill is too laid-back and shy, those favouring Boxhill have cited many instances of Burrell believing that he IS Jamaican football and that the country should pay him a debt of gratitude.
My own view is that Boxhill needs a little of the outgoing nature of the Captain, while Burrell ought to go back to basics and listen to where Boxhill wants to bring the focus in Jamaican football.

It was Jamaica's third regional title in 12 editions, and Boxhill, during the presentation ceremony and in an interview with Jamaican media, displayed unbridled joy.
But since Boxhill's ascendancy to the presidency, all national teams failed to make it to any World Championship, and the Caribbean Cup, which doubled as a qualifying campaign for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, represented the last opportunity for any success.
We appointed the coach and we helped to select the team we wanted, and the fact that we came through unbeaten and are indisputably the number one champions, and we are winning this championship for the first time in seven years, it is really a good feeling," said the JFF boss.
