The first part of my Commandos 3 hands-on time was, in fact, a demonstration of the single-player module.
Commandos 3 multiplayer seems to be all about bringing the kind of planning, thinking, and devious trap-setting from the single-player scenarios into the multiplayer world.
The problem is that there will also be another band of human-controlled commandoes who are also working to beat the first player at accomplishing the mission.

 Don Markstein's Toonopedia: Boys' Ranch
Boys' Ranch #1 (October, 1950) came out from Harvey Comics (Captain Freedom, The Black Cat), which had already published Simon and Kirby's Stuntman and Boy Explorers.
Another adult, Palomino Sue (one of those westerm-genre women who are always being told to stay out of the way when the menfolk are settling their differences, but ignore those instructions and frequently wind up saving the day) came to live at the ranch in the second issue.
The final member of the cast was an orphaned Indian boy they called Happy Face, who smiled a lot, never spoke, and was seldom even seen until the last issue, the only one in which he actually took part in a story.

The Commandos were in Egypt, disguised as part of a trading caravan and invading a Nazi-held town.
One of the reasons Boy Commandos is my favourite of the SandK features from DC in the 1940s is the wide variety of stories and locales, and this is a good example.

Boy Commandos - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Boy Commandos was a 1940s comic book series created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby for DC Comics.
But like teenage sidekicks from Batman's Robin to Captain America's Bucky, this was acceptable wish-fulfillment to the children of the 1940s, who in real life could only help the war effort through paper drives and saving their dimes to buy Liberty Bonds.
The Boy Commandos and similar groups, such as Timely Comics' Young Allies, provided vicarious empowerment.

Giving the commandos all a core set of skills may reduce the uniqueness of their personality, but it also makes each a more competent tool in solving the mission puzzles.

Don Markstein's Toonopedia: The Boy Commandos
Their second DC kid gang was The Boy Commandos, which began in Detective Comics #64 (July, 1942).
Detective Comics, where Batman got his start (and which, incidentally, DC Comics itself is named after), had hitherto concentrated exclusively on characters that could, in some sense at least, be construed as — well, detectives.
The boys were an international group, kind of like a junior version of the Blackhawks, but without airplanes.

Joe Simon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
With his partner, artist Jack Kirby, he co-created Captain America, one of comics' most enduring superheroes, and the team worked extensively on such features at DC Comics as the 1940s Sandman and Sandy the Golden Boy, and co-created the Newsboy Legion, the Boy Commandos, and Manhunter.
A financial dispute with Goodman led to their decamping to National Comics, one of the precursors of DC Comics, after ten issues of Captain America.
Given a lucrative contract at their new home, Simon and Kirby took over the Sandman in Adventure Comics, and scored their next hits with the "kid gang" teams the Boy Commandos and the Newsboy Legion, and the superhero Manhunter.

 Introduction
Though rarely ground-breaking, the pleasant, bucolic adventures of a shy, almost impossibly well-mannered boy who happened to have god-like powers proved to be exceptionally popular, eventually earning Superboy his own comic book in 1949.
There had been kid groups in the forties, most notably DC's Boy Commandos and Newsboy Legion, but they were comic book contemporaries of the movies' Our Gang, scrappy pre-pubescent boys (and sometimes girls) battling gangsters and Nazis.
This change represented a serious problem for the Legion of Superheroes; they had shared countless adventures with the Boy of Steel over the years, and it was he who inspired them in the first place.

In the first tale, the boys tried to do something about the high cost of food by starting a lobster ranch, and in the second, they had to foil the evil plans of the Deadly Paperhanger, who had created a wallpaper from which real plants grew.
Bringing the boys in to do a deus ex machina on a simple problem like a gang fight has to bring at least a smirk to the face of the jaded modern comic reader.
