Artists who broke the boycott were heavily criticized by those involved in the anti-apartheid struggle, although this had little effect on their careers.
However, although the boycotts had effectively highlighted the apartheid policies of the South African government, and reduced the ability of the white government to survive in the longer term, the extent of their contribution to the end of apartheid is uncertain.
Boycotts of the economy, sport, and culture did not destroy apartheid alone; the regime collapsed through a number of factors, in which the boycotts played a significant part.

A boycott of this institution and a call for Israeli universities to take a stand against it is entirely in order.
The Palestinian call for a boycott of Israeli academic institutions is endorsed by the most important associations of academics and professionals and is supported by dozens of civil society institutions in Palestine.

Boycott was in fact a detached portion of Oxfordshire until 1844, perhaps as the result of a dependency upon the important royal manor of Kirtlington.
The abbey’s demesne at Boycott was sub-let by William in parcels: two virgates to Walter de Banbury, half a virgate to William the miller, half a virgate to the widow Dionysia, and a ferling to William the forester.
Indeed it was probably the main centre of population in the parish at the end of the 13th century, dwarfing the neighbouring settlements of Boycott, Lamport, and Stowe.

The club was founded in 2002 when The Football Association allowed the owners of Wimbledon F.C. to relocate to the city of Milton Keynes on the far side of Buckinghamshire.
All organized supporters' groups that had followed the old club switched allegiance to AFC Wimbledon, and the club has consistently drawn greater attendances, playing in a small regional league, than the old club, playing much better-known and better-supported opposition in the First division of The Football League.
Supporters of other clubs around the country have generally united in a boycott of Wimbledon F.C. (often mocked as "Franchise FC") in a protest against the club's relocation which is perceived as a move totally alien to the traditions of the English game.
