Fiedel was originally hired because of Terminator’s small budget, however, Fiedel’s simplistic scores worked well with Cameron’s perfectionist techniques and were easy to dissect and reassemble without notice in the film.
However, all is not lost on Fiedel and he produces a rivetting 6 minutes of orchestral action in the latter half of "Causeway/ Helicopter Rescue" and this includes a rare quotation of the main theme.
Fiedel approaches the comic moments with great enthusiasm, injecting alot of style and fun into the score, mainly through strings and double bass which perform various variations of the brass theme.

Filmtracks: Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Brad Fiedel)
Indeed, the score that Fiedel would produce for Terminator 2 is largely a technological update of the first score, utilizing many of the same motifs and synth effects, and there were positives and negatives to this retainment.
Fiedel starts the cue with a series of low percussion hits and slowly builds up the tempo in anticipation for the main part of the cue, which is a repeating pattern of powerful sounding synthetic strings in the lower-register.
Brad Fiedel manages to blend unmusical sounds of industrial equipment and modified percussion samples with style, rhythm, and harmony that at times to me is baffling.

Brad Fiedel - film and TV composer
Brad Fiedel to many people is associated with the electronic music of the Terminator films - metallic, ruthless, impersonal and relentless.
However, Fiedel has been around for a considerable time and has certainly served his apprenticeship on "human" movies with more traditional orchestration requirements as a quick look through his CV will demonstrate.
You will find some of Fiedel's other work is hard to find, but the Terminator soundtracks are deservedly popular.

 Filmtracks: True Lies (Brad Fiedel)
Fiedel's music for the Terminator films was serviceable, but not embraced widely by film music fans, the majority of whom were unaccustomed to the synthesized styles of Fiedel in the pre-Media Ventures days.
Fiedel had, for his previous projects, engaged the films with an array of synthesizers, but for the larger-scale True Lies production, he also employed a moderately sized orchestra with the help of veteran composer Shirley Walker.
The best of Fiedel's material, believe it or not, is the slower underscore for which he occasionally uses modern keyboarding or a trumpet to accentuate love scenes or espionage sequences.

All the original music Brad Fiedel wrote for this classic sci-fi action film is included here...and while it does succumb to the '80's sensibility of overuse of synthesizers and sequencers, the score hardly suffers from it.
Brad Fiedel made a classic, rememberable theme if you ask me, He did even better with the second installment of the series and its score.
Brad fiedel did a great job on this, for a guy that hasn't done many scores, he sure has great talent and sounds like the best of them.

Brad Fiedel : The Terminator (Definitive Edition) - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-25)
One underrated highlight of the classic 1984 science-fiction film The Terminator was the marvelous synthesizer score by Brad Fiedel.
Side one of The Terminator is comprised of six compositions by Fiedel, who once served as a keyboardist for Hall & Oates briefly in the mid-1970s.
Fiedel's synthesizer work on "Factory Chase" is full of glassy squeals and scary bursts, and Ross Levinson adds touches of electric violin.

True Lies by Brad Fiedel (1994)
The score Fiedel created for True Lies isn't like Barry's 007 music or anything remotely similar to the hundreds of 007 knock-offs we have heard again and again.
When the main theme is present, the score really moves and one can't help but like what Fiedel is doing.
Overall, I say this is a good buy, because there are enough pieces of music here that work, and Fiedel does a good job at entertaining us with a neat action score.

Beltrami on the Terminator 3 controversy - The Terminator Files   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-25)
When Marco Beltrami was signed to score Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, the choice of composer resulted in two different reactions in two different fan communities: excitement among film music fans, and skepticism among fans of the Terminator movies.
Further controversy was triggered when Beltrami told the Music from the Movies web site in December, that instead of using music from Brad Fiedel's original scores, he would try all his "own material".
The orchestral approach is what makes the T3 score unique in comparison with the music for the first two films - Brad Fiedel's scores were all-electronic.

Brad Fiedel began his career as a keyboard performer with singers Hall and Oates before turning to film scoring, working primarily in the horror and action genres.
His breakthrough came with the dynamic underscoring for James Cameron's "The Terminator" (1984) which in turn led to more mainstream work on such films as "The Big Easy" (1986) and "The Accused" (1988).
Fiedel has also scored over 40 TV programs, including the TV-movies "Playing For Time" (CBS, 1980), "Second Serve" (CBS, 1986) and "Rasputin" (HBO, 1996).

Amazon.com: Terminator 2 - Judgment Day: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack: Music: Brad Fiedel   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-25)
Starting off with the instantly recognizable "Terminator" theme, Fiedel eschews traditional techniques in favour of a far more impressive array of techno-rock frenetic tempo lineage that works just as well in the feature film as a stand alone piece.
Tracks like "Helicopter Chase" and Hasta La Vista Baby" are the highlights of this impressive disc.In a time when the more favourable choice for movie soundtracks was artsists who used their invovlement with the film's musical department to publicise their latest tune, this is something of an oddity, since all tracks are simply orchestral.
I don't think Brad fiedel has done many scores for movies, or at least that's what I think but he hit the mark for the T-2 score.
