 Bradford
Welcome to Bradford, an industrial city on the edge of the moors of the Britain's West Yorkshire Pennines and in the heart of Bronte Country- where the Bronte sisters were born and lived and wrote their classic novels.
The city is well connected with the outside world, having a short motorway (the M606) linking it to the M62 trans-Pennine route, and having no less than two main railway stations at Forster Square and Bradford Interchange in the city centre (the latter also containing an integrated and recently refurbished bus station).
In sport, the city of Bradford has historically been represented by Bradford City F.C. (which usually plays at the local Valley Parade stadium), Bradford Park Avenue Football Club and the famous Bradford Bulls rugby club.

Thankfully, all of the 2,500 City support had made it into the ground before there was any serious action and discovered that Andy Goram who had signed on a months trial was on the bench whilst Youseff Safri was left out altogether.

Bradford’s deputy Lord Mayor Bill Nunn and his wife Betty, the Lady Mayoress, had been in it, playing host to the civic heads from the city’s twin towns in West Germany, Belgium, and France, who had come over for the Championship day.
These facts are scarred forever across the collective consciousness of Bradford, and indeed many other towns and cities; people had come from all over the North to watch City’s young team parade the Third Division Championship trophy before the last match of the season.
The game against Lincoln City was proving to be a scrappy goalless affair when, shortly before half-time, a puff of smoke rose from the seating at the far end of the main stand.

Watson was, at that time, the most expensive player in Bradford City's history having cost them £550,000, and was playing in only his third match for the club.
The nickname survives, however, in one of the club's mascots, the City Gent, a man in a bowler hat who throws sweets to children in the crowd before matches.
With this in mind, in the 1960s, attempts were made to replace the nickname with "The City Gents" or just "The Gents".

Bradford was a pretty lawless place in its youth.
Our police have been getting a lot of stick lately, both physically and verbally; but back in the mid-Victorian days, their job was just as tough.
With the motorisation of the force, these too began to disappear in their turn; though they were remembered with affection as a warm and welcoming refuge by beat officers.
