LUCYFEST/ THE QUEEN OF LIGHTS / FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS
Since lusse means light the name Lucia seems to be far more understandable, and would probably be more accurate as Lucy, which she is also known as in Sweden.
There is also a remarkable similarity between the lussesup and the bragarfull or holy cup that oaths were sworn on which were associated with the sonargolt or holy boar at Yule.
The Church did not always consider Lucy a saint.

The host then drank the bragarfull, following which the folk drank toasts in memory of those who had died.
So holy was the boar regarded that the folk would place their hands upon him to swear oaths.
It is impossible to know whether the custom of swearing oaths upon the sacrificial boar was confined to Yuletide or performed at other holy tides as well.

Snorri Sturluson in his Heimskringla, in the Saga of Hákon the Good, describes the custom of the bragarfull at feasts:
The Fagrskinna (a 13th century history of the Kings of Norway), has a similar account in respect to Svein Forkbeard, mentioning first ceremonial drinkings dedicated to the greatest of one's kindred, then to Thor or others of the gods.
Hedin vowed that he would have Sváva, Eylimi's daughter, the beloved of his brother Helgi; then such great grief seized him that he went forth on wild paths southward over the land, and found Helgi, his brother.

 FORSETI
Since this contradicts all known sources and accords only with Walker's ideology, it can safely be dismissed.
The cup of oath-drinking is called bragarfull, which means "the best cup".
Sometimes it is also referred to as "Bragi's cup", probably out of a false etymology which derives the adjective bragr, "the best", from the god's name.

 The Yule Boar - Folklore
The sonartoltr was an atonement boar sacrificed during Yule and considered so holy that oaths were sworn and vows taken over its bristles.
On the night before Yule, the biggest and best boar was brought into the hall where the assembled company laid their hands upon the animal and swore their unbreakable oaths upon the Bragarfull (holy cup - a bragging cup ?) and the sonartoltr.
Heard by the boar, these oaths went straight to the ears of Freyr himself and Freyr hated liars.

The scholar Dwight Conquergood maintained in "Boasting in Anglo-Saxon England: Performance and the Heroic Ethos." that the tribal poets basically made the boasts for the entire tribe.
That is, their poetic retellings of the myths and histories were the gielp of the tribe that corresponded to the beot which was the bragarfull made by the tribal leader (for info on gielp and beot read "Symbel").
If that is so then, Brego more than anyone could not risk offending Loki, or anyone for that matter.
