An elected ward chairman of Biratnagar Sub-municipality in the Morang district, Tribeni Majhi, was killed in a Maoist attack on February 2.
A senior police official in the Tangail district said on February 3 that at least 100 JMB militants, including some suicide squad members, are hiding in the forest areas of the two districts.
District Co-ordination Officer Abdul Samad Lasi informed that gas supply from Pirkoh and Loti gas fields might be closed down in the next few days, as the water supply pipeline could not be repaired despite passage of considerable time due to sabotage activities.

According to district flood in­formation centre, 58 unions out of 65 of the district went under water again displacing 60,000 families and at least ten lakh people were ma­rooned.
Meanwhile, road communica­tions in the district were disrupted as the link-roads connecting the five other upazilas, with the dis­trict headquarters were inundated at a number of points.

The overall aim of the project was to reduce the incidence of disability caused by polio and cataract blindness and to clear backlog of unimmunized children in Kamalganj and Kulaura Thanas of Moulvibazar district.
The objective of the project was to resettle 1,100 disabled flood victims and their families in the rural communities of Brahmanbaria Sadar, Sarail, Nabinagar and Bancharampur Thanas (Sub-District) of Brahmanbaria District.

Officials say the tornado hit several remote villages in the district of Brahmanbaria on Sunday night, leaving a trail of destruction.
A senior district official, Motiur Rahman, told the BBC that the storm had flattened the whole of Noabadi village close to the border with India.
He said hundreds of mud and thatched houses in Noabadi village were destroyed and trees uprooted during the storm even though it only hit the village for less than 10 minutes.

Seasonal storms are common in Bangladesh, one of the world's poorest countries and known for its chronic natural disasters, including devastating cyclones and floods.

In the latest incident of persecution of the minority religious sect, orthodox fanatic Muslims attacked an Ahmadiyya mosque at Bhadughar in Brahmanbaria shortly before the Juma prayers on October 29.
One of the injured, Shabju Mia (52), a leader of the local Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat and imam of the mosque, was critically injured in the attack and was admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital for treatment.
There are some 25,000 Ahmadiyya people living in Brahmanbaria district where Ahmadiat was first preached in 1912, before any other place in Bangladesh.

According to an UNDP-funded survey, arsenic beyond permissible level was detected in tubewell waters of 18 thanas in Comilla, Brahmanbaria, Feni, Laxmipur, Chandpur and Noakhali districts.
Of the districts, Laxmipur was said to be the worst affected area as 80 per cent people of the district have been hit by arsenic.
