Labour (economics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There are macro-economic system theories which have created a concept called human capital (referring to the skills that workers possess, not necessarily their actual work), although there are also counterposing macro-economic system theories that think human capital is a contradiction in terms.
Wage is a basic compensation for labour, and the compensation for labour per period of time is referred to as the wage rate.
However, this optimality is not simply viewed as a "technical variable" as in micro-economics, because workers are not simply a "factor of production", but human beings who organise themselves and each other.

Intellectual worker - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An "Intellectual worker" (brain worker or knowledge worker) is anyone employed due to their knowledge in a subject manner, rather than their ability to, for example, perform manual labor.
The term can also refer to people outside of information technology but who nevertheless are hired for their knowledge of some subject, such as lawyers, teachers, and scientists.
The term "knowledge worker" was first used by Peter Drucker in his 1959 book, Landmarks of Tomorrow.

On the other band, if the workers of old found but few opportunities for mastering science, many of them had, at least, their intelligences stimulated by the very variety of work which was performed in the then unspecialised workshops; and some of them had the benefit of familiar intercourse with men of science.
Listen to those who know industry, and you will see that the substance of their complaints is this: 'The worker whose task has been specialised by the permanent division of labour has lost the intellectual interest in his labour, and it is especially so in the great industries: he has lost his inventive powers.
To the division of society into brainworkers and manual workers we oppose the combination of both kinds of activities; and instead of 'technical education,' which means the maintenance of the present division between brain work and manual work, we advocate the éducation intégrale, or complete education, which means the disappearance of that pernicious distinction.

 Worker's Comp for Brain Injury
In worker's comp, there generally is no requirement that the disability continue for a full year, so benefits should commence immediately.
Permanent disability ratings for brain injuries are expressed in terms of percentages of the "body of the whole." Both the survivors doctor and the insurance companies doctor will rate the disability, in such percentage.
But with almost all brain injury survivors, there will be a much greater entitlement to benefits: the loss of earning capacity claim.

A brain injury or closed head injury most often results when there is a blow to the head in a car accident or fall.
When an accident occurs the skull strikes a stationary object and the brain, which is inside the skull, hits the skull and often turns and twists on its axis, causing serious injury.

Wage is a basic compensation for labour, and the compensation for labor per period of time is referred to as the wage rate.
In Marxian economics, the aim of labor economics is to provide insight and guidance for the optimal allocation of co-operative human labour.
Marxian economists believe that ultimately the most desirable form of labor organisation in the workplace is where workers manage themselves collectively, and elect managers where necessary; too much management is inefficient, it just means that people get high incomes for doing very little, capitalising on specialised knowledge or qualifications.

 Issues related to Human Nature
Donald MacKay was a careful experimental worker in brain neurophysiology, physical psychology and theoretical problems of information processing and systems control related to the brain and observable conscious phenomena; his meticulously logical thinking is evident throughout this book.
MacKay distinguishes scrupulously between the sort of understanding we can have of brain function as external observers of neurophysiological data ("the brain story") and the sort of understanding we have as possessors of minds and conscious experience ("the I-story") and he makes it clear that he believes firmly in the legitimacy and reality of both.
For example, MacKay returns to this point in the chapter on brains and machines; since computers also must be designed in terms of such conditional readiness to respond, he seems to argue that there may never be a scientifically intelligible basis for belief in the authenticity of mind and consciousness.
