Being the biggest band in a country that most Americans couldn't find on a map with a magnifying glass is akin to being the most popular bar band in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
So the boys of BrainStorm rewrote their last Latvian release in English and primed to show the world rock n roll is universal.
In the grand tradition of garage and punk bands worldwide five teenage boys joined together in 1989 to form a band, not because they knew how to play their instruments, but because it sounded like a cool thing to do.

 Brainstorm (Latvian band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The band was formed in the summer of 1989 in Jelgava, Latvia by four old classmates Renārs Kaupers, Jānis Jubalts, Gundars Mauševics and Kaspars Roga.
Brainstorm's first international single was recorded in the year of 1998 in Germany with Volker Hinkel, the producer of Fool's Garden.
In 2004 Brainstorm and a well-known Russian band Би-2 recorded a song “Скользкие улицы” which is included in the new album of Би-2 “Иномарки” released on 2nd of March, 2004 and which has taken position number 1 on radio charts in Latvia, Ukraine and Russia.

Naumova is apparently a popular performer in Latvia, singing a broad range of music ranging from pop, through musical theatre jazz, has recorded several albums (her latest in French), and also possesses a law degree from the University of Latvia.
She was discovered by famous Latvian musicians in 1994 and after a year she performed on tv in searches for talent.
In March 1998 she performed on stage in concerts with famous Latvian musicians, and one of those concerts was recorded on CD.

When it comes to making power metal, Brainstorm is one of those rare acts that avoids the whole giddy Helloween cliché and forges their own distinctive style.
The first thing that struck me was just how heavy this band is and how they manage to work some progressive elements into their sound without losing any power.

Brainstorm (Prata Vetra in Latvian, I think), has probably been the Baltics' best, and most widely recognized rock n' roll band for several years.
I never picked up one of their albums, but I had a Latvian girlfriend a couple years ago who had several.
