Braintax: Yeah and there's a lot about now as well so it's much harder to keep track of the hip-hop scene than it used to be 'cos there's just so much stuff coming out.
Braintax is well known for including a political element to his lyrics so I was keen to get some discussion going on that level.
Braintax: I probably have got a bit more of a middle-class audience because the people who tend to being into politics in this country tend to be more middle-class kids than working-class kids but nearly everybody's hip-hop audience in this country is middle-class.

Braintax's lyrics reflected a maturity beyond his years and this track in particular was a sign of what was to come.

Braintax was originally a duo but is now known as one of the UK’s foremost solo Hip Hop artists and the driving force and owner of Low Life Records, a pillar of the UK Hip Hop scene.
Braintax as a duo are still remembered for their first commercial release, a five track debut EP entitled ‘Fat Head’ released in December 1992 to a barrage of praise and positive reviews.
Braintax, by now rolling solo, spent the mid 90s in a haze of dole, daytime TV and drug-fuelled music-making from which a network of underground artists was established, honing their skills and creating a new league of UK hip hop artists.

Braintax - Panorama : album review
UK rapper Braintax's second LP is a heavily political zeitgeist-friendly snapshot of the way we live today.
Amazingly the album succeeds in not boring you with the constant rhetoric, and there are also a couple of tracks here to release the pressure: Good Or Bad is a comical look at the ladies and Braintax's alter ego from the classic Riviera Hustle returns to continue his grifting adventures in Cannes.
Lyrically, Braintax is in a class of his own, and this is the album's major strength.

The Braintax album comes in the wake of other explicitly political records by British hip-hop artists, including Fun-Da-Mental’s All Is War and Skinnyman’s Council Estate Of Mind.
This may be the case, but Braintax’s Panorama certainly breaks the mould in terms of how intensely engaged with political issues a hip-hop album can be.
In this it stands proudly in the tradition of Public Enemy and the militant hip-hop of the 1980s - a tradition that Braintax demonstrates is ripe for reinvention.
