Brandon, known as the "Wheat City", is a city in southwestern Manitoba, Canada.
Three of Brandon's largest employers are a major fertilizer plant, a major pork processing plant with exports to much of the world, and a call center for a major American wireless carrier.
Brandon is often referred to, although not yet officially, as The Curling Capital of Canada.

Of this acreage, in 1887, 60,000 was seeded to wheat, 17,000 to oats, 2,200 to barley, 2000 to potatoes, turnips and fields roots and 50 acres to peas.
At 32 bushels per acre (the average wheat yield for all of Manitoba that year) the 60,000 acres produced a staggering 1,920,000 bushels which was 15% of the total of 14,000,000 bushels produced in all of Manitoba that year.
Of course, with wheat representing the touchstone of commerce a commanding feature of Brandon's expanding skyline were the buildings that housed the city's grain storage and milling facilities.

Brandon, Manitoba - The Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings have unveiled plans to join forces with Paterson Grain and the Westman Dreams for Kids Foundation and the Brandon business community for this year's "Goals for Kids" campaign.

The Brandon Wheat Kings defeated the Regina Pats by a score of 4-2 in front of a crowd of 5438 at the Keystone Centre in Brandon on Friday night and with the win the Wheat Kings have won their best of seven East Division series 4 games to one.
Brandon now advances to the Western Hockey League's Eastern Conference semi-finals for the second year in a row.
