[Project Rastko] THE HISTORY OF SERBIAN CULTURE - Petar Marjanovic: The theatre
Branislav Nusic (1864-1938) left his mark on the entire twentieth century, dominating the repertoire of Serbian theatre.
In his popularity among audiences, Dusan Kovacevic succeeded Branislav Nusic, although he is a playwright who, taking for granted all the virtues of his own people, unsparingly ridicules all their shortcomings, fallacies, baseness and foolishness (The Marathoners' Victory Lap, The Collection Centre, The Balkan Spy and Saint George Slaying the Dragon).
A great number of Nusic's plays was performed in the theatres of the Soviet Union (the biggest success was The Cabinet Minister's Wife, staged in the theatres of 27 cities), the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria and other countries.

A second renowned and much loved Serbian dramatist, Branislav Nusic (1864-1938) was also of Tsintsar origin, although this did not appear in any of his works.
Nusic was very popular during the Communist regime of Josip Broz Tito because his plays caricaturized common enemies in a capitalist society.
Borislav Pekic, another Serbian writer of partial Tsintsar origin (a grandmother was half-Vlach), seized on that ancestry as a central element in his epic vision not only of Balkan history but of the history of mankind back to the edge of mythological times.

Words and music united into unique, characteristically theatrical symbols, effective solutions helping to conjure up rivers, bridges and streets submerged in gusts of wind and showers of rain belonged to symbolism… whereas the performance was brought closer to realism by the acting style of an outstanding team, whose qualities functionally supplemented each other.
These were Branislav Lecic's fascinating energy (Henrih Tile), Nikola Dzuricko's casual frivolity (Karl), Goran Susljik's character acting (Aleksandrov), Jelena Djokic's disturbing sensibility, and Jasmina Rankovic-Avramovic's flair for satiric persiflage (Lucky Woman).

Even Branislav Nusic (known satirist) would be forced to stop to think how to end this comedy, but the problem is that this is no comedy, but, as already said, a farce which leads to two irrefutable conclusions.
First, it is clear that data are actually leaking from the most secret state services, in this case probably because a part of the police is fed up with servicing adolescent football passions of the head of the state and his often ridiculous clones.
