Brasenose College, originally Brazen Nose College (in full: The King's Hall and College of Brasenose), is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
The name "Brasenose" is thought to originate from a brazen (bronze) door knocker in the shape of a nose; the nose-shaped door knocker which hangs above the high table of the main hall of Brasenose College is thought to be the original door knocker belonging to Brasenose Hall.
Brasenose College Boat Club (BNCBC) is popularly held to be the oldest boat club in the world; this is impossible to verify but BNCBC is certainly the oldest collegiate boat club and took part in the first ever head race, beating Jesus College Boat Club on that occasion.

The fifteenth century kitchen, all that was left of Brasenose Hall, closed the second quadrangle, now known as the Deer Park.
It was used as the College burial ground, and nearly sixty people were buried there.

The Fellowship is non-stipendiary and is intended to be held in conjunction with a British Academy Post-Doctoral Fellowship or equivalent salaried support for independent research, for which candidates should apply separately.
A Fellow is entitled to free luncheons and dinners, either accommodation in College or an allowance in lieu and a study room, and support for research expenses.

He was admitted a candidate of the Royal College of Physicians in the same year, and became a fellow in 1789.
Latham gave several of the eponymous lectures of the Royal College of Physicians, including the Goulstonian Lectures in 1793, the Harveian Oration in 1794, and the Croonian Lectures in 1795.
There is also material relating to Latham's professional work as a physician and a fellow of the College, including his catalogue of the College Library, 1827 (MS2000/149); Reference is made to a paper by Latham in a letter from Pelham Warren to Francis Hawkins about the evening meetings at the College, 1831 (MS1045/6).

In Oxford we studied at the famous Brasenose College, and the subject was Astrology.
Finally, Brasenose was over, but before we left, we had our photo taken with the rest of the group, including one of our lecturers, the world famous astrologer, Robert Hand.

 Westm Estates: Brasenose
In 1508 Richard Sutton, a lawyer for the Privy Council and steward of Sion abbey, bought the tenements as part of his grant to Brasenose College, Oxford, of which he was co-founder.
He leased the property to the College in 1519 and shortly afterwards released it to them, with a formal conveyance in 1524.
In 1520 the property was an inn known by the sign of the Hart, renamed the White Hart by 1524; it was in some decay, and the College paid £30 to Sutton for rebuilding it.

Professor E. Ortiz, Professor of the History of Mathematics at Imperial College, London, and Dr Simon Altmann, Brasenose College, Oxford are the organizers of a small conference to commemorate the sesquicentenary of the death of the French mathematician Olinde Rodrigues (1795-1851).
Rodrigues is better known as a social reformer and Saint-Simonist than as a mathematician, although his work as such is of the highest value.
Funds are limited, so that we expect attendants to find their own travelling expenses, as well as a small registration fee.
