Brass Eye focused on the press and society's irational knee jerk reaction.

Chris Morris' Brass Eye show caused uproar when screened in July, with the majority of protests focusing on Brass Eye's apparent mocking of a serious and sensitive subject.
The commission said that the scenes involving children in a sexual context had "generated a level of offence and distress to the viewing audience" which outweighed the public interest purpose of the programme.
A spokesman for the NSPCC said: "We felt after the programme was first screened that Brass Eye had overstepped the mark on this very sensitive issue.

The new show involved on-camera appearances from a wide sweep of celebrities and politicians, brought on to comment upon ludicrous news items - often, one suspected, unaware that the material was spurious, a technique that blurred the line between truth and fantasy and increased the controversial nature of the show.
Although accused of cowardice in their eleventh-hour withdrawal of Brass Eye, C4 (which itself picked up the show when the BBC turned down a 1995 pilot) insisted that premise as a whole needed tweaking and that it would reappear; true to their word, it surfaced two months later.
A press release for Brass Eye promised that it would 'take media terrorism to a level never seen on British TV before' which, when the first six programmes had been aired, seemed nothing less than fair comment.

Following the July 26 broadcast of "Brass Eye," a satirical television program poking fun at the hysterical and sensational way the media deals with pedophilia, politicians, the public and, of course, itself, the media have been queuing up to condemn the program and "Brass Eye" creator Chris Morris.
It was always going to be a controversial program, but nobody, except perhaps Morris himself, could have predicted the deluge of recrimination, condemnation and spluttering indignation that greeted the latest installment of his scabrously funny satire.
Airing on Channel 4, Britain's most progressive and risqué terrestrial channel, "Brass Eye" has developed a reputation over the last few years as the most dangerous show on television.

Why Chris Morris had to make Brass Eye | Screen | The Observer
Morris's Brass Eye programme spoofing the demonisation of paedophiles, broadcast by Channel 4 on 26 July and repeated the next night despite a record number of complaints, provided Middle England and its liberal enemies with a handy midsummer bandwagon, and on it we all leapt with abandon.
Well, in part, of course, for every Brass Eye spoofs the media, - but it had two other main intentions.
So the idea had been there for a while for a Brass Eye on the idolisation of children, focusing on one of its offshoots, the manufacturing of monsters as scapegoats for our sexual confusion - monsters worse than the cars that kill or maim 5,500 children in Britain each year, worse than child poverty.
