Brasstown Bald is the highest point in the state of Georgia, USA, with a summit elevation of 4784 feet (1458 meters) above mean sea level.
Across the North Carolina state line, immediately to its north, is Brasstown, North Carolina, in the Brasstown Township of Clay County, North Carolina.
Brasstown Bald is in Towns County and the Chattahoochee National Forest, and is part of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Because Wolfpen Ridge is predominantly hardwood, Brasstown Bald (which is the highest point on the ridge) is a wonder to behold in the fall.

Perhaps some of them go places like the Brasstown Bald visitors center and learn new things about the natural world, gaining new respect for it.
But there are so many others like the kids from the church group we saw there last weekend, peeing behind a trash can on the trail, cutting the switchbacks (defying the forest service signs and promoting harmful erosion), shouting at each other in their pubescent shrillness.
The stark contrast between the solitude of the six-mile hike to Brasstown Bald and the quarter-mile hike to the summit was enough to put our nerves on edge.
