Members of the company, as were all the town's firefighters were paid one dollar per year, but at the same time were fined one dollar for missing an alarm of fire and the exhorbitant amount of 10 cents for missing a company meeting.
However, though times and methods have changed, the spirit of neighborly cooperation is as strong today and the dedication to their task in a nearby town, to the firefighter, is the same as that at home.

On Saturday, representatives at Brattleboro's annual town meeting, after roughly six hours of debating municipal and school budgets, spent another hour and a half of intense discussion on the measure.
The impeachment resolution that eventually passed was similar to the ones passed in other Vermont towns, and was introduced by Dora Bouboulis.
Brattleboro’s moderator did allow comments from the gallery and one resident passionately claimed that "this was the right time and place, that the town meeting reps represent the concerns of their districts and this was too important to ignore."
