Cuiaba, Brazil- The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) on Wednesday warned that it was "premature" to assign responsibility for the worst plane crash in the country's history, after state police earlier in the day said they were investigating two US pilots.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Brazilian Federal Police said they were investigating the culpability of the pilot and copilot of the Legacy for the accident.
Geraldo Pereira, federal police superintendent in the state of Mato Grosso, said the pilot of the Legacy, Joseph Lepore, could be charged with unintentional homicide in Brazil.

 Police arrest 55 suspected hackers in Brazilian phishing swoop
The police swoop, which involved 330 members of the federal police force, took place mostly in Campina Grande, in the state of Paraíba, some 1,100 miles north east of Rio.
According to the police, the gang broke into approximately 200 accounts at six different banks, infecting internet users' computers with spyware Trojan horses to steal confidential information such as account numbers and passwords.
According to a police statement, computers, cell phones, credit cards and other materials have been confiscated and will be examined as part of the investigation.

 Brazilian police bust hacker gang - Breaking - Technology - theage.com.au
Brazilian federal police arrested 41 hackers today accused of using the internet to divert millions of dollars out of other people's bank accounts.
Some 200 federal police were deployed in the operation to serve 65 arrest warrants against a gang of hackers mostly operating in Campina Grande, some 1,800km north-east of Rio.
Police said the leader of the gang was a 19-year-old and five of those arrested so far were minors.

The Brazilian Justice issued warrants of arrest for 89 people - including IBAMA (the Brazilian Environmental Agency) agents and loggers, who are responsible for 1,9 million cubic meters of timber illegally exploited in the Amazon.
This operation involving 450 Federal Police agents and 31 IBAMA agents is the largest ever carried out by the Federal Police in the Brazilian Amazon.
The Federal Police and IBAMA should extend this kind of investigation for other Amazon States, such as Para and Rondonia, where deforestation and illegal logging are rampant," said Paulo Adario, Greenpeace Amazon Campaign Coordinator.

Federal police chief Jorge Pontes said the results of investigations, which started one year ago, indicated that the gang had been selling licenses for up to six years.
