		Owing to its high levels of gluten (which give the dough sponginess and elasticity), wheat is the most common grain used for the preparation of bread, but bread is also made from the flour of rye, barley, maize (or corn), and oats, usually, but not always, in combination with wheat flour.
		Bread is one of the oldest prepared foods, dating back to the Neolithic era when, cereal grains and water were mixed into a paste and cooked.

		Bread was formed in 1969, when a leading Los Angeles session musician, David Gates, was asked, by now legendary music figure Russ Regan, to produce a project featuring Rob Royer as vocalist for the group "Pleasure Faire".
		It was in the context of this project that Gates, Griffin, and Royer, the nucleus of Bread, initially met, developed friendships, and decided to pool their talents.
		Setting Bread aside, the band members took different directions and David Gates completed a couple of solo efforts, "First Album", in 1973, and "Never Let Her Go", in 1975.
