| | Breath of Fire - Re-Retroview |
 | | Going on, Breath of Fire was quite original when it first came out, what primarily with character fusion and the dragon system, although the game did borrow the day/night system, not to mention the name Dragon Lord, from the Dragon Warrior games. |
 | | When the original version of Breath of Fire came out, its graphics were well above the norm for a 16-bit RPG, what with animated battles and lush, vibrant colors, and the Gameboy Advance version keeps them intact for the most part, though a few decent anime stills were injected into the new port. |
 | | Overall, the first Breath of Fire, despite its flaws, was a decent start for the franchise, and the second-best installment in my opinion, next to the fourth. |
