As further celebration, five of the band took a jaunt up to Leeds on Friday 27th April to play the song and generally join in with this 40th anniversary.
Fresh faces were recruited and "BREATHE" rose from the ashes; a team started to evolve who would all share a "no compromise" goal in re-creating the music of Pink Floyd and who had the ability to deliver.
The Breathe performance is presented as a self-contained show using a mix of Modern Technology, definitive arrangements, passion and "Good Old-Fashioned Musicianship" without any backing tracks.

Breathing off expressive sounds, and exertive talent is shown as "Canto funebre forever we march you've made a sea of calloused hearts to loathe" is heard and in retrospect you can only belittle what the true meaning behind those lines are.
Since the band was never truly a hardcore band in the traditional fashion, due to the free-form, intricate instrumentation and heightened sense of musicality, the changes aren't terribly difficult to get used to.
The band is taking a leave to their previous sound and trying something new with a wider variety of vocals and much less of the vicious screaming they are so well known for.

Proof of that came in 2001 when the band was asked back by David Wilcox to open for him, and they found out that the last run of stagnant tickets sold only after the breathe.
The band had a CD release party and paid to have busloads of avid fans shipped off to The Horseshoe Tavern in downtown Toronto to watch the album be performed.

"breathe" is definitly another extremely solid Midnight oil album.These guys are doing very rarely something weak.this album has different sound,raw and dirty.It is an alternative to complex and polish sound of "diesel and dust" and "Blue sky mine".
The band was obviously influenced by musician Daniel Lanois.

While we’ve never actually been able to prove that your extra weight is the cause of you not being able to breathe, we heard about another doctor that saw someone who couldn’t breathe because they were fat.
I couldn't breathe and there was no one there to help me. I had to crawl to the phone and call my daughter to come take me to the ER where they found that I had pneumonia, which this lady could have seen if she had just done her job.

While Chris' voice is probably the band's most powerful weapon, the music coming from the instruments of Michael Bell, Brian Pettigrew (who is now out of the band) and David Dunham isn't far behind, with it's hypnotic and enchanting notes and beats that truly sculpt a musical trip for the listener.
They could easily turn into a more commercial band if they wanted to, but fortunately that's not their goal; and considering they continue to deliver such intense and expressive music, I hope they keep thinking that way.
