There is a breather tube on the top of the switch, routed to the engine bay, mine wasn’t connected and the switch injested water/gunk and the switches started sticking, sending false signals to the computer.
I left the breather tube in place, to re-attach, but the new one came with a new tube, already attached-must be a common problem.
The switch rotates on its mounts about 10 degrees, the shop manual specifies a tool/jig that bolts on, fit a pin in a slot and rotate, dangle chicken bones and chant…..I put it in reverse (it read park) and turned the switch until I heard the mirrors auto-dip.

Normally this Euro switch is used to turn on and off the head/tail light and the parking light, but the US version fixes the head/tail light on always.
The switch can be removed by cutting the wire ties holding the line in place and by unplugging the connector mounted on the top part of the frame under the tank.
When the lines were near the ABS unit, I then ran the switch connection line (with crimped mating plug) to the location of the Euro switch connector and plugged in the line.

A very common fix for this problem is to replace the stock breather with a fitting to which a hose is attached and run the hose up to a higher point on the vehicle, like the firewall or air cleaner.
The idea behind the breather is to place the end of the line as high as you can get it, in a protected location where its not going to get pelted with mud, dust and water.
Be very careful with the fan switched off and you may want to consider some sort of guard over the switch to prevent it from being accidentally turned off.

SingaporeMoms - Parenting Encyclopedia - Rail tracks   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-22)
Railroad or railway tracks are used on railways, which, together with railroad switches (points), guide trains without the need for steering.
Tracks consist of two parallel steel rails, which are laid and fastened upon sleepers (or cross ties) which are embedded in ballast to form the railroad track.
Joints are used in continuously welded rail when necessary; instead of a joint that passes straight across the rail, producing a loud noise and shock when the wheels pass over it, two sections of rail are cut at a steep angle and put together with a gap between them (a breather switch).

The tank has a vacuum gauge and switch and connects to the vacuum hoses, which connect through a vacuum port to the bag.
Make sure that the gauge and switch are tee'd off the suction to the side, so that any resin that may get sucked into the line will drop into the tank instead of the pump, gauge, or switch.
For thick laminates that are going to be oozing a lot of resin into the breather, you might want to use release film between the peel ply and breather, to make it easier to peel off the breather.
