Some breeders have issues with the kennel clubs, and do not register their dogs and they can still be responsible, however it is important that they are registered with another major reputable kennel club.
This is one of the hallmarks of a responsible breeder!
Breeders do this because they feel responsible for the well being of their dog, and feel that it is their job to make sure the dog gets a good home, instead of being placed in a shelter by the owner.

Reviews -- Books -- Stories Rabbits Tell, by Susan E. Davis and Margo DeMelle
They (the rabbit breeders) also seem to be pissed that the authors quote numerous actual exchanges taken from various Yahoo rabbit breeder chat groups, and they complain that the authors didn't tell the truth about who they were or why they were monitoring the chat.
Of course you could argue, and most of the rabbit breeders seem to be doing just that, that the info presented is inaccurate and misleading in of itself, but that's not an issue I am qualified to weigh in on.
Breeders of rabbits aren't necessarily bad people, they're just doing something to try and eek out a meager living on it, and while they probably feel bad about the way they have to treat their crop, they just don't have any choice.

Until a wannabe breeder develops a specific breed photograph (hopefully, based upon the breed standard) internally and makes the choice to honor proven, worthwhile mentors who will devote themselves to their pupils success, he will fail to create any long term impact on his chosen breed.
Many dog breeders are visibly infected with a self-serving greed that has eroded their essential respect for mentors and minimized the true value of purebred dogs to such a degree that it is reducing an otherwise fine Sport to a paltry game.

I'm not offended by the term breeder, but I am offended by people who choose to not have children who act holier-than-thou.
I've heard vegans refer to those of us with children (child in my case) as breeders in a negative manner and that wasn't so much as offensive, as something for me to roll my eyes at.
It seems negitive to me, reminding me both of "breeder" animals and those people are vocal about their belief that childbearing is selfish.

We were set to go look at the "fighting house," which is slang for a breeder's kennel of "gamebred" pit bulls, and it's also where the dogfights can be -- but aren't necessarily -- held.
The truth is that these dogs have been bred to fight since 1835, when "bullbaiting," the precursor to organized dogfighting (and an early form of steak tenderizing -- the masticated dead steers were discovered to be easier to chew), was outlawed in Great Britain.
Breeders valued the "tenacity, fierceness, and courage" of the dogs, which had been previously used to tear at and otherwise torment large bulls to death for the edification and amusement of peasants and gentry on dull gray days in the U.K. Home
