  The Invention Of The Helicopter
Breguet had not solved the problem of controlling the direction of flight of his helicopter, a problem that would plague helicopter designers for decades.
However, Breguet and Dorand kept at it, continuing to refine the machine, and in November 1937 it won a French Air Ministry prize for a helicopter that could fly an extended circuit and perform other specified flight tests.
Breguet and Dorand continued to work on the aircraft, but made little progress, and it was finally badly damaged in a hard landing in June 1939.
