Topic: Brenda Spencer

Urban Legends Reference Pages: I Don't Like Mondays
On 29 January 1979, 16-year-old Brenda Ann Spencer opened fire on children arriving at Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego from her house across the street, killing two men and wounding eight students and a police officer.
That Spencer failed to kill any of the children she shot at was attributable to luck rather than any reluctance on her part to take their lives.
Those who continue to be troubled by the callousness of Brenda Spencer's crime and concerned by her continued attempts to shift blame for her actions onto anyone or anything else can draw comfort from the knowledge that murderers are rarely granted parole in California.

Brenda Ann Spencer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Brenda Ann Spencer (born April 3, 1962 in San Diego, California) wounded eight children and one police officer and killed two adults in a shooting spree at Cleveland Elementary School in the San Carlos section of San Diego, California, on the Monday of January 29, 1979.
In 2005 she claimed that she was drunk and under the influence of PCP at the time of the shootings and also that her father, Walter Spencer, had sexually abused her as a child.
Spencer's crime, lack of remorse, and inability to provide a serious explanation for her actions when captured inspired the song "I Don't Like Mondays" by The Boomtown Rats, written by musician Bob Geldof.
