Brent arrives on ape controlled earth to find them in the midst of the worst kind of jingoistic warmongering.
The ape's have had it with the mutinous human race and are about to launch a holy war to seek out and destroy the last of the hidden human's deep within the tracts of the underground.

The sequel to this unquestionably closed little tale features Zira, Cornelius and Milo returning to Earth in one of the spaceships (hm, wonder if they pulled Taylor's craft out of that lake, or rebuilt Brent's?).
Doctor Zaius (Maurice Evans) was one of the best characters in Planet of the Apes, a respected anthropologist who does unethical things to preserve the ape way of life.
Taylor is also shot, and with his last bit of strength, detonates the Mutant's "God" Bomb, utterly obliterating The Planet of the Apes (aka Earth) and everyone on it.

This time, the story followed the adventures of Brent (James Franciscus), an astronaut who crash-lands in the Forbidden Zone after following Taylor's original trajectory.
Despite attempts by Dr. Zaius (Maurice Evans), the head of the Ape Assembly, to protect the status quo by having him destroyed, Taylor escapes, and rides off into the sunset with Nova.

Zira has over 30 points of articulation for full range of motion and comes with a notepad, pen, Taylor notes, paper airplane, Ape Scroll and a 12 inch 'Planet of the Apes' figure stand.
I bought an extra Zira and Cornelius for my desk at work and they are the center of attention by all who see them.
