	Brent Musburger - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Brent Woody Musburger (born May 26, 1939 in Portland, Oregon) is an American sportscaster for ABC.
		In his column in that paper, Musburger famously referred to Tommie Smith and John Carlos as "fl-skinned storm troopers" for their protesting racial injustice in the United States by engaging in a Black Power salute on the medal stand during the 1968 Summer Olympics.
		When the game was completed (which UNLV had won by 30 points), Brent, on camera, eloquently thanked the audience and the many people at CBS Sports, and the analysts that he had worked with through the years like Billy Packer, who was standing next to Brent as he parlayed his swan song.

	The Curse of Musburger
		My grudge against Brent Musburger has been smoking on a personal back burner for many years -- since the early 1980s in fact, when Brent was covering the NBA Finals for CBS-TV, and it involves the word "downtown."
		That is when Musburger changed the language of sports forever when he kept repeating this ignorant notion that any basketball player firing off a long 3-point shot is shooting from "downtown." (Celtics announcer Johnny Most might have coined the "downtown" trademark in the 1960s, but it was Musburger who beat it to death.)
		The last time I saw Brent socially was in the dinner lounge at Caesar's Palace in Vegas.
