The 450 million year old crater is 3.8 km in diameter and is located in Ontario Canada.
Notwithstanding the fantastic destructive energy unleashed in the Brent Crater explosion, the meteorite that caused it was perhaps only 150 meters in diameter.
The life forms in and around the crater now are among the most diverse anywhere in the world at this latitude.

crater. The Columbia Encyclopedia, Sixth Edition. 2001-05
Complex craters have a raised central peak surrounded by a trough and a fractured rim.
Craters that have been obliterated by erosion over thousands of years, leaving only a circular scar on the earth’s surface, are called astroblemes.
Craters are also commonly formed at the surface opening, or vent, of erupting volcanoes, particularly of the type called cinder cones, where the lava is extruded rather explosively.

Ottawa Centre - R.A.S.C. : Terrestrial Meteorite Craters
The Brent meteorite crater, highlighted by the circle in the landsat image, is located within the northern boundary of Algonquin Park 75 km east of Lake Nipissing (Note 1).
The gradual addition of the sedimentary layers in the crater tended to compact the under-laid rubble layer causing the bottom of the shallow sea occupying the crater to sink.
From the observation tower at Muskwa Lake on the southern rim (#1) the Brent Crater is visible to the north and northwest.

The only thing that bothers me just the teensiest bit about Brent is that it's right along the trend of the Ottawa Graben, with the Montreal diatremes and Oka carbonatite to the east and the Callander Bay alkalic complex to the west, and beyond that are Sudbury and Lake Wanapitei.
The rim of the crater is Precambrian crystalline rock but the floor is Ordovician limestone.
Craters with similar interior landslides are common on the moon.

Impact cratering is increasingly being recognised as one of the driving mechanisms of planetary geological evolution due to the effect of major impacts upon subsequent tectonic events.
The cross-sections through the centre of the crater are fairly similar, and the cross-sections outside of the crater exhibit a greater degree of variation.
The impact crater is the circle to the north west of this image, and the remaining false candidates shown are small quasi-circular features with a non-impact morphology.

Such craters are typically less than 1 mi (1.6 km) across, but larger craters, called calderas, ranging in diameter from 3 mi to - in a few instances - 50 mi (5-80 km), are formed by particularly large eruptions.
Craters are circular, bowl-shaped depression on the earth's surface.
A caldera is a much larger crater, typically ranging from 3 to 18 mi (5-30 km) in diameter, and represents a considerable fraction of the volcano's basal diameter.

 Meteorite Craters Challenge Young-Earthism
Crater evidence indicates that the earth, its moon, and other bodies in our solar system have been impacted by millions of meteorites.
An early attempt to deal with the crater evidence was made by the "father of modern creationism," Henry M. Morris, who suggested that lunar and Martian craters might represent battle scars of a cosmic war between angels and Satan (Morris, 1972; Spears, 2006).
Over 150 major craters have been documented in the geologic record, and this is undoubtedly a small fraction of the actual number, since most would have been obliterated by tectonic movement and erosion, or hidden under sediments.
