Chiswick House is a Palladian villa in Burlington Lane, Chiswick, London W4, England.
Burlington was a widower with one daughter and Chiswick was not his only or his largest house, so he had no need to attempt to incorporate all the accommodation normally found in a country house.
In the 1750s Chiswick passed by marriage to the 4th Duke of Devonshire, who was the widower of Burlington's daughter.

Chiswick U.D. became an autonomous part III authority, responsible for elementary education, under the Education Act of 1902.
Under the Act of 1944 Brentford and Chiswick became an 'excepted district', responsible for both primary and secondary education.
Her new school, renamed Chiswick and Bedford Park high, later preparatory, school, was managed by her daughters in 1979, when it contained 200 boys and girls to the age of eleven.

A EXHIBITION entitled 'Chiswick's Pictures' was launched at Hogarth's House this week, containing over 60 prints, painting, drawings and watercolours stretching as far back as the 16th century.
The exhibition was researched by members of the Brentford and Chiswick Local History Society, working at first from photocopies and photographs of the originals.
Admission to the House and the exhibition is free.
