		Ten years ago, he was about to embark on a new career, exchanging Bradford council for a south-east constituency, deserting the gritty north for the fleshpots of the south-east, and in the process trying to make the first ever transition from bluff Yorkshireman to Essex man. I have to say—with some affection for the hon.
		Member for Brentwood and Ongar conveniently forgot to mention one very obvious symbol of the difference between Tory and Labour Governments.

	Chipping Ongar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Ongar is located at the confluence of several old roads, being placed between Chelmsford and Epping on an east-west axis and between Dunmow and Chigwell (beyond which is London) on a north-south axis.
		Ongar was an important market town in the Mediaeval period, lying at the centre of a hundred and once having a Norman castle.
		Ongar's role in local government was downgraded in 1974 with the abolition of Epping and Ongar Rural District Council.
