	Brian's Battle with Burkitts' Lymphoma
		Specific to Brian's lymphoma, the chemotherapy which he is undergoing has several side effects such as fevers, itching, and mucousitis.
		Despite Brian's appearance, having lost his hair and the medical hardware that is attached to him, Garreth has served to remind Brian that he is still a little boy (see update 11 January, 1998).
		Since Brian's pain is unceasing and all of the changes in his life are so difficult, Brett has been counceling Brian on how to deal with them.

		Brian loved to meet challenges head on, large and small ones alike, from learning to guide class V to the cracker challenge (and to my knowledge he was the only one who could do it).
		Brian got up on a big rock beside the barn and yelled out "Please be kind to the pig in its final moments!" He really meant it, and I think that shows how passionate Brian was, that he could stand up against a crowd.

	Night Directions for the Lost
		A homage to variety, a nod to Kurt Weill, Philip Glass, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Celtic ballads, John Trudell, and Kenneth Rexroth doing jazz at the Nighthawk, with a bit of a rough edge and a latin/grunge punky flavour, spiced with a lot of irony and angst and celebrations.
		He's one-third of the Saltspring Collective, and his veteran poet's voice meshes perfectly with an eclectic mix of music ranging from Beat jazz and traditional folk to Celtic and Asian influences provided by Susheela Dawne and Ramesh Meyers.
		From jeremiads like "Neruda's Dead Flower" to the comic-jazz "Two Old ladies" and the hilarious poetic rant "May-yo", Brett is in top form, but it's nice to hear Dawne's voice used extensively as well.
