And perhaps the biggest reason it sucks to be Dunkleman is he was the last resort for this column, being that nobody else drank the Suck-Aid.

I saw this too, and it just confirmed his stupidity to me. The judges' negative comments are a major part of the show's appeal so of course they're going to focus on it.
One of my favorite moments, hack as it was, was when Brian said he didn't like to see "good kids cry." Sounds like Brian did some of his own crying after the show was over.
I thought Seacrest and Dunkleman were both pretty awful during the first season, but after watching And and Dec on World Idol, I thought that show seemed a bit jarring too, I think the format of the show works better with only one host.
