SLAM! Sports - Wrestling - BG James
It is perhaps safe to argue that BG James has always been at his best as a part of a group, whether as the Roadie for Double J Jeff Jarrett, a member of DeGeneration X, a tag team partner to Billy Gunn or as part of 3-Live Krew.
Born Brian James, he grew up in a wrestling family, the youngest son of wrestling legend "Bullet" Bob Armstrong so it was only natural that he would make his way to a career in the squared circle.
In May, 2002, James began to team with Konnan and two months later, Killings joined the group, which came to be known as 3-Live Krew and by November, Killings and James had won the NWA Tag Team Championship, a title they would hold until a loss to the Red Shirt Security on January 28, 2004.

Kip James Interview: Talks about new name, TNA on Spike TV and more
He couldn’t explain the full process, but he guessed that it came from the fact that Kip was his mother’s maiden name (and his middle name), so it was just a mixture of his middle name and the real surname of his “adopted brother” Brian James (aka BG James).
Kip then said that he feels that his role in TNA will be more focused on bringing up the younger talent, as he (and BG James) teaches the younger guys about what works and what doesn’t work in wrestling, and on TV in general, as TNA prepares to debut on Spike in October.
Kip said that he couldn’t see that happening again, as not all of the elements from those few years remain, but he could guarantee that once TNA hit the airwaves, the WWE would suddenly start putting out some good stuff on their show as they react to the new competition.
