  126 Wn.2d 11, BECKER v. PIERCE COUNTY
Among Sonntag's statutory duties was the responsibility to "convene the county canvassing board to process the absentee ballots and canvass the votes cast" at each primary or general election.
Becker alleged in her letter that Sonntag had acted improperly in the certification of the September 1992 primary election for State Auditor, which actions, her attorney contended, "constitute[] a direct violation of RCW 29.62.030", a statute requiring special procedures when an election "is one at which the county auditor is to be nominated or elected".
Sonntag argues that Becker's challenge to the 1992 primary and general election for State Auditor is untimely because her challenge is an election "contest" governed by RCW 29.65.010.

Brian, I am going before the Seattle Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday.  Both the Seattle Times and Seattle PI have weighed in on I-900.  But in their editorials they really don't have their own objections, just yours.  They both rely on quotes and statements that you supposedly made about I-900.
My most prominent memory of you was an interview you did recently on TVW in which you said, "if the initiative does pass, it'll be a bigger, stronger, more powerful performance audit program than the piece of legislation that passed is" House Bill 1064.  To me, that said it all.
Sonntag:  "It does and certainly his work, and primarily that of Bob Williams and the Evergreen Freedom Foundation, they're not wrong.  Also, I have to say, this is the best piece of legislation to come along and to get through that [legislative] process...
