Brian became the second member of hockey's first family to coach the Blackhawks (Darryl Sutter served as head coach of the Blackhawks from 1992-95), and the fifth of the six hockey playing Sutter brothers to be associated with the Blackhawks (only Ron Sutter has not).
Sutter achieved several milestones behind the Blackhawk bench in his inaugural season (2001-02), but none more gratifying than restoring the pride in the Indian Head crest as the team returned to the playoffs for the first time in five seasons.
Sutter captured "Coach of the Year" honors following the 1990-91 season when he led the Blues to a 47-22-11 for 105 points, which was second in the NHL only to the Blackhawks' 106 points that season.

In my mind a fine was justified, and if Sutter was to become a repeat offender I'm all for a small suspension but this was just the league over-reacting because the game was nationally televised.
Sutter said after the game he put the big guys on the ice at the end to make sure something didn't happen.
Of note while Trotz was hightly critical of Sutter after the game, saying Sutter was trying to take the game back to the 30's he then proceeded to say next time the teams meet he'll make sure all of his tough guys dress and return the favor.
