		Tobin won handily and as Premier of Newfoundland, had the good fortune to preside over the province during an unprecedented economic boom brought on by offshore oil and gas exploration and development, as well as the discovery of one of the world's largest nickel deposits at Voisey's Bay in coastal Labrador.
		Tobin brought his province international exposure with his negotiations to have Newfoundland's unique time zone and geographic position recognized to a world-wide live television audience as being the first location in North America to celebrate the arrival of the millennium.
		Tobin may very well prove to be a candidate for the leadership in the upcoming Liberal leadership convention.
